3/28/1681 ~ Examination of Ann Saltwell of Great Hallingbury widow, who saith that she was delivered of a male child on 1 January last and taht Thomas STACY of Broxted was the father of the bastard, and he promised her marriage and had oftentimes had knowledge of her ten months and nine months before she was delivered. Informations of Mary Packston and Ann Battle widow, both of Great Hallingbury, and Mary wife of Thomas Saltwell of Little Hallingbury, present at her labour, say that in her great extremity she cried out the name of tho. STACY and say that he was the father. Information of Alice Wife of Anthony Turner of Little Halling bury husbandman who saith that she hath oftentimes heard Ann Saltwell say before and in her travail that Thomas STACY was the father. Ann Saltwell of Great Hallingbury spinster, aged about 16 years, her daughter, saith that he often times came to her mother's house and several times lay there all night.
